The Evolution of Cisco Webex

The Journey

Over the last 3 years we have witnessed an evolution of Cisco Webex. It has gone from being an acquisition that barely made its way into a Cisco collaboration sales pitch, to being the poster child for all components of it.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for Webex though. Customers and partners have had to change their perception of how Cisco do collaboration. It has required businesses to completely change how they go to market when selling and procuring these services.

With such rapid change it’s vital that there are a group of ‘champions’ adopting the technology early, providing feedback to the developers, and helping others see the available benefits. People that are willing to take a bit of pain to break through the norm, and invest the time to learn the new, in order to achieve something better.

Webex Masters Program

Last year Cisco introduced its Masters Program for Webex. Launched at Cisco Live Barcelona in 2018, the Webex Masters pilot class was designed to join together and recognise a community of leaders who have demonstrated their deep commitment to helping others make the most of collaboration technology. The class is now into its second year and I am absolutely thrilled to be recognised as part of the team.

For 12 years I have dedicated my career to Cisco. For 7 of those years I have focused exclusively on their collaboration portfolio. While my roles have always been sales based, I’ve never been comfortable selling something that I don’t understand. I’ve always made the time to learn, and when I find a gap in my knowledge, I work hard to fill it.

I’ve been lucky in my career that I’ve been surrounded by good people to help me fill those gaps. People that have taken the time out of their own busy schedules to educate me, or simply point me in directions where I can educate myself. Without these people I would not be in the position I am today and I will always be grateful.

As a new Webex Master I look forward to the opportunity to shape and lead the way with Cisco’s continuing innovation. I hope that in doing the role, I’m able to help others in the way that I have received help in the past.

I am supported by a great team at ITGL. Everyone here is deeply enriched with Cisco expertise and our brand in this market is continuing to grow.
